Modern water systems for the villagers from Baru and Bănița
10.12.2009
The water systems from the villages Baru Mare and Bănița in Hunedoara county were reconditioned
within some
large projects submitted by local
governments to be financed with European money.
In the village Baru more than 1.200 families will be connected to the main water system. Thus network was made on
the basis of a complex project, which
cost more than 2 million euros. “ In the Baru Mare and Petros villages, which are the largest ones in the village
Baru, the main water system network
and the main collector channel are going to be finished. The next step is every inhabitant’s attachment to this
network”-Daniel Raducan, the mayor of
the Baru village said. The city father showed that some of the natives had their own water sources, but now many of
these are in danger because the
groundwater lowered.
The Baru village , which is situated at the entrance of Țara Hațegului, has about
3.000 inhabitants and includes Baru, Livadia, Petros and Valea Lupului villages.
About 150 people will be attached to the water system in Bănița. “ Now we are working on the people’s attachment to
the water system we have already
finished this summer by the help of a project that was financed by Ordinance 7/2006. I hope that in a few day it
will be possible for us to make the
plugging with the new pipe and not to have anymore problems with the water supply.”-Ionel Burlec, the mayor from
Bănița, declared. The total value of
the amount for this village is over 600.000 lei. The Ordinance 7 is the legal basis of the government programme by
the help of which more than 1.700
places in the country can receive sewage systems and water supply, bridges, pedestrian bridges or modern sports
facilities.
Bănița village is made of 3 main places, namely Crivadia, Merișor and Bănița-sat. The national road 66 crosses it,
being situated at a distance of 30
kilometres from the south part of Hațeg and at a distance of 12 kilometres north of Petroșani
city. The houses lie on both sides of the road, at different altitudes, being in fact situated in a row on the hills
which tower the road DN 66.
Half of the Romanian people without running water
The water supply is not a solved problem for lots of Romanian communities. According to a report made by the Ministry of Environment, only 52% of the Romanian
people is
attached to water supply and sewage
systems and 79% of the used waters aren’t treated or are badly treated. The Ministry’s opinion is that by the help
of the Sectoral Operational
Programme Environment (SOP
Environment) the water
quality will be better through 200
cleaning stations, that are new or rehabilitated, so that 70% of the citizens could receive water supply and sewage
services at European standards.
Thus Romania is developing through SOP Environment 9 projects which have in view the extension and modernization of
the water and wastewater systems
,of about 930 million euros in the counties of Giurgiu, Călărași, Cluj-Sălaj, Tuda-Câmpia Turzii, Sibiu, Tulcea,
Teleorman, Olt and Gorj and other
projects are going to be approved by the European Commission. The total financial allocation for the priority Axis 1
of the SOP Environment ,that are
after the extension and the use of water and wastewater systems, is about 3,27 billion euros, of which the European
Union’s contribution with Cohesion
Funds is about 2,78 billion euros.
